The Foundation honors socially responsible investment practices in its Investment Program as defined by the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church. We use the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church, Sections 160 – 164 as guidance.
We make a conscious effort to invest in institutions, companies, corporations and funds whose practices are consistent with the goals outlined in the Principles. We endeavor to avoid investments that appear likely, directly or indirectly to support racial discrimination, violation of human rights, sweatshop or forced labor, gambling, or the production of nuclear armaments, alcoholic beverages or tobacco, or companies dealing in pornography.
We use portfolio screening developing lists of prohibited investments with guidance from the General Board of Pensions socially responsible investing policies.
